Patron Message

First and foremost, allow me to extend my sincere appreciation to the President and Chairman of The Pakistan-Indonesia Business Forum (PIBF) and all its stake-holders, for your kindness and willingness by allowing me to address this remarkable forum.

I would also like to use this opportunity to express my gratitude to the late H.E Burhan Muhammad (Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan) for his support and contribution as the Patron-In-Chief and my predecessor, Mr. Rosalis Adenan as Patron of the PIBF in bringing closer economic ties between Indonesia and Pakistan.

Secondly, I acknowledge PIBF is an important forum for its aims and objectives are to encourage mutual understanding, promotion of business and strengthen the friendly relations between the industrial and business communities of Indonesia and Pakistan. Since the beginning of its establishment, PIBF has played an important role in developing economy interest among those respected communities.

Indonesia and Pakistan possesses a similar status as emerging economy/market in their region respectively and holding diverse economy as well investment attraction to business communities. Seeing the implementation of Indonesia-Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) in 2013, had given its positive outcomes. In 2014 only, both countries enjoys a bilateral trade volume reaching US$ 2.2 billion (US$ 1.5 billion in 2013), with increasing trends to 25% during the period of year 2009-2014.

The current excellent cooperation has opened opportunities for both countries towards wider economic cooperation in the future. I have strong confidence that both Indonesia and Pakistan will continue to cooperate to foster strong and close relation and cooperation in the said area, by means of increasing their interactions and visits.

I believe the PIBF will be underpinning foundation for further growth in economic and investment cooperation for there is still ample room to explore. Therefore, I’m optimist that PIBF’s strategic role as a bridge linking Indonesia and Pakistan business people will promote growth and prosperity in the two regions.
